My Own Little Heaven...

Here is what I've been up to so far this week. My friend Marissa would be so proud {she is an organizing genius and has helped me in the past} of me for doing all this by myself. I've admitted to this blog before that I am not organized and that I love accessories. These two worlds don't always go hand in hand, but this week I pulled up my sleeves and made it work.

I feel like I have my own little boutique of jewelry in my closet, and it's so much easier to see what I'm working with and pick out the perfect item. This collection also includes two racks of hanging necklaces...

I'm obsessed with jewelry and I always will be. It makes me feel feminine, happy and complete.

Highs and Lows.

This weekend was full of highs and lows...

The lows were:
  • J. spent the entire weekend in his office studying for a test that he's taking today for work.
  • I felt like we are living on the sun...I'm so sick of the heat!
  • J. bought a new iphone and spent every free second playing with it {it really started to get on my nerves}.
  • I spent my entire Sunday doing laundry.
  • Brooks drove me crazy by tapping on the back door trying to go outside all weekend{bulldogs can't hang out in 100+ degree weather, so he just ended up frustrated and insane}.

The highs were:

  • We went to Sprinkles cupcakes as they were closing Saturday night, and since I'm pregnant and they felt bad turning us down, the girl gave us 5 cupcakes for free!
  • I saw the baby bunny that J. saved in the pool last week, playing in the backyard {alive and well}.
  • We picked up the baby crib we ordered and I can't wait to see it put together.
  • I filled two more garbage bags with things to give away...I love getting organized.
  • I've been feeling this sweet little baby move more and more inside me. It's magical.

Here's to a happy week.

Lucky Bunny.

Last night Brooks and I were in the backyard and I heard noises coming from the pool. At first I didn't think much of it, but then I noticed that the sound was moving and coming from different locations. I looked closely and saw something little swimming along the perimeter of our pool. At first, I thought it was one of the dreaded rats and ran inside and yelled for J. and he got the pool net and scooped it up.

He then motioned to me to come and look and exclaimed "It's a baby bunny and he is exhausted." The poor little thing just laid in the pool net catching its breath after swimming for who knows how long. We agreed that just a little longer and our little friend wouldn't have made it. J. put it in the grass where it came alive again and ran into the bushes. J. and I were so happy that we contributed to saving this little life and I am so happy I actually paid attention to the noises in the pool. We have about 3 bunnies in our yard a day, and we've trained Brooks to coexist with them so he leaves them be to eat our grass, snooze in the shade and be happy.

Hope your weekend is as good as this bunny's.

Random Acts.

I don't know if it's the pregnancy or not, but every time I see these commercials I get a little weepy. They exemplify such goodness, give me hope for the world, and remind me that little random acts of kindness can go a long way...

Kudos to Liberty Mutual.

Weekend Exhaustion.

I have spent the past two days cleaning out closets, doing laundry, filling 6 garbage bags with clothes to give away and trying to get my home life organized. I'm so glad that I got so much accomplished, but I am officially exhausted and there is still much more to do. I'm officially done shopping for a long, long, long time.

Lollipop Zen.

I ordered this onesie & it came in the mail yesterday. I can't even tell you how much I love it...I wish my baby could wear it every day.

My dream guy {besides J.} is Carter Oosterhouse from hgtv. He seems so sweet, he's an expert carpenter, I picture him smelling like soap and he has an English Bulldog for a pet....dream.

This weekend, J. was on my case about cleaning up the kitchen counter {one of our ongoing bicker sessions} and I walked into the room while Carter's show was on and thought, "I bet Carter would never yell about the kitchen counter..."

The next day while we were watching Design Star, Carter made a guest appearance, and I told J. of my thought the day before. He just said, "that's ok...sometimes I wish I was married to Kate Hudson. She is so happy and adventurous."

It's amazing how our dream people are the exact opposite of what we have. I guess the grass is always greener. If I was married to someone like Carter, I'd dream of someone who wore a suit everyday to work, and J. would be dreaming of a straight arrow who liked being home.

I'm knee deep in so many projects around here that my head is spinning. I have a busy weekend ahead of me...

Happy Friday.

My Soon To Be Favorite Accessory.

After much searching, I finally settled on a baby bag that I love. I knew I needed the messenger style option, because I can't stand having something on my shoulder when I am feeling flustered. I figured this is a feeling I'll come to know quite well, so I better make myself as comfortable as possible, and be able to throw this bag across my body as I navigate a stroller and potentially crying baby {Eeeeks!}. Plus I love the color and the vibe it gives out with the peace sign. Another bonus is that is wasn't outrageously priced, so if it looks like it was run over by a truck in a year, I won't even care.

Brooks On Vacation.

He enjoyed smelling the cool breeze, just sitting in the grass and hanging out in the Adirondack chairs. We love taking him with us and he has become such an amazing traveler. Everywhere we take him, people comment on him. On multiple occasions I've had people ask if they could just take a picture of him, and he loves the attention. Kids are like magnets towards him...they think he is Stitch from Lilo and Stitch.

We took him with us shopping at Fashion Island, and while I was inside the stores, Brooks drew quite a few girls over to chat with J. In fact, as we were walking to the car, J. told me that if he was ever single again {not likely} that he would just get a french bulldog and hang out at the mall.

I love that dog and all the magic he carries with him.

I Miss The Beach Already...

...well, really I miss the heavenly weather. Somehow being pregnant and at the beach didn't equate to a purely positive experience for me {I felt like a whale}.

Now it's back to the heat, doing loads of laundry and putting things away...I hate this part of traveling.

I also want to wish my amazing friend, Keri, an extremely Happy Birthday.

She is a true blue friend who will show up every time you need her. We met in 7th grade gym class and there hasn't been a day since, that I haven't felt extremely grateful for her friendship. She's one of my favorite people on earth.

Happy Fourth!

I hope everyone enjoys celebrating the fourth of July. Despite the fact that I'm always talking about living in France, and the fact that our economy is at an all time low, I really do love this country. I still get choked up every time I'm dragged to a baseball game, and have to sing the National Anthem.

We are celebrating the 4th in Laguna Beach and will be back next week...I'll post again then.
