Nielson Interview.

Stephanie's husband Christian did an interview recently while he was here packing up their house. Go here to see the unedited version.

He is so composed and shows such strength. It's such a miracle to know they are alive and planning for their futures.

Class Act.

Michelle Obama is one classy first lady. She did something unprecedented by any other person coming into her position. She brought Laura Bush a gift when they all met for coffee the morning of the inauguration. Apparently, the gift was a leather journal for Mrs. Bush to start writing her memoirs and an engraved pen with the date, January 20, 2009.

It's so wonderful to see such graciousness in the White House again.

Recession Wear.

If we weren't in the middle of a recession, and I had free money to buy whatever I wanted, I'd be wearing the above outfits from Tory Burch daily...

...with these adorable sandals.

Instead I found these "Tory-esque" cardigans at Old Navy on clearance for $5.00 {originally $29.50}. I absolutely love them, and would never know they were Old Navy merchandise if I hadn't bought them myself.

These are the Moments....

...that I looked forward to when I knew I was having a baby.

Pure sweetness.

I Pledge...

Regardless of your political views, today marks the beginning of a new chapter with a President who has asked all of us to do our part to make a change. This video by Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore is so inspiring.

I pledge to....

  • Stop using plastic bags at the grocery store.

  • Have more compassion for people instead of judging them.

  • Turn off lights when I'm not in the room.

  • Smile at strangers.

  • Raise good, kind and value driven children.

  • Be an example to those around me.

Today marked a special day in history and I felt so blessed to be able to witness it. I can only see pure goodness coming from this new administration...

Gratitude.

I'm feeling so grateful for the following...
  1. Being around to see historical moments like Obama's inauguration.

  2. That Nie Nie is back!

  3. Finding a few new pair of super cute shoes for complete bargains {my feet seemed to have grown since my pregnancy}.

  4. For days like this.

  5. For a baby that likes to cuddle with me and smells like heaven...I can't get enough of him.

Love Songs.

You know when you first start falling for someone and every song on the radio reminds you of them?

Lately most songs make me thing of my little sidekick that needs to eat every 3 hours, and who happened to turn 2 months old today. The songs to the right are the love songs that make me think of him most. A year ago, all I was praying for was a little girl, but I'm so grateful God gave me a son first.

He is my newest crush...

Tired but Happy...

I miss sleeping.

I haven't had a good night's sleep in 8 weeks, which coincidentally is the exact age of my little bundle of joy today. I can get really annoyed when I'm sleep deprived, but know that I need to remain grateful for the healthy amazing baby that was given to me. I came across this blog post while blog surfing, and it put getting up in the middle of night into perspective....my heart aches for them.

Goop.

I've mentioned before how much I love Gwyneth Paltrow. Now she has a weekly newsletter on various subjects, called GOOP. I absolutely love it and admire her even more for sharing her spirituality, style and gourmet taste with the rest of us.

I wish I could have lunch with her once a week...

Resolutions.

I love the idea of fresh starts. Every new year feels like a bit of a "do over" and a chance to wipe the slate clean to begin any new lifestyle I want. Here are some of the things I want to put into action in 2009:

  • Look put together at least 6 days a week {My friend Marissa and I always say that it's a slippery slope to sweatpants when you're a new mom}.

  • Meet new moms in my parenting group with children Harrison's age that he can play with as he grows up.

  • Take time each week for myself to do the things I love, so that I don't forget who I was before I became a mom.

  • Put more effort into my marriage. It takes a little more effort now that there is a needy newborn in the picture.

  • Say NO whenever I feel like it.

  • Be my true self and not worry what others think.

  • Start reading books again!

  • Get an exercise regimen going and eat smart, so that I can be ready for baby #2.

  • Walk Brooks once daily...he's gained a few too many lbs.

  • Meditate, meditate, meditate.

  • Restrict my spending...I accumulate way too much junk.

  • Be less judgmental and just accept.

  • Stop saving things for special occasions. I'm going to wear my good shoes to the grocery store, wear my favorite perfume everyday and use the vintage china for sandwiches.

Happy 2009!

It's going to be another incredible year....
