Gratitude.

More than ever it's appropriate to give thanks for what I'm currently grateful for...

  1. My growing little family and brand new baby Harrison.

  2. The fact that Brooks has blown us all away, and has been a perfect gentleman with our new addition.

  3. Having friends and family who truly love me and support me through life's trials.

  4. Being able to eat sweets again.

  5. The smell of cinnamon and pumpkin in the air everywhere I go.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

My Hero.

I'm not going to lie...the past week has been one of the most challenging of my life. I had no idea how much this little human would turn my world upside down. Coming home from the hospital was one of the scariest experiences of my life.

Luckily I have this amazing husband who has been my teammate, confidant, nurturer, organizer and cheerleader when I'm down. When you think about the kind of person you want to marry, he is the type you want to be in the foxhole with when things are stressful. Plus...he loves being a dad.

I'm slowly finding my stride and starting to get the groove of this whole motherhood gig. My partner in crime returns back to work today, so I'm taking a deep breath and holding on {plus my mom is coming over} that everything goes as smooth as possible.

I can't wait to meet him at the door when he gets home...

Ignorance is Bliss...

As J. and I rush around getting ready for a new baby, this is how one member of the family is coping....

{Due to Brooks' lazy nature, this won't mean much without sound}

Happy Weekend.

Generous.

I've made a few of these books over the years and now {thanks to Oprah} we can all get a FREE 8 x 11 Snapfish photo book! Just click here and start your project...this could make such a great Christmas gift. Hurry - the deal ends Friday.

{Side note: I'm currently up at 12:30 am obsessively doing laundry...could labor be around the corner?!?}

Smiling.

Besides having my first child and being able to eat pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving, I'm most excited to see the newest Vince Vaughn movie, Four Christmases. I looove him and his sense of humor...he always makes me smile.

My dream would be to have him live on one side next door, and Ellen DeGeneres on the other.

Challenged.

I'm having a challenging week....

I feel stressed, anxious, weepy, tired, achy, rushed, freaked out about being a mom soon and just generally irritated. Some of it is can be contributed to hormones and some of it is just my state of mind. Change scares me....even if it's the best kind of change imaginable...I don't do well with it. I guess I'm anticipating the change about to take place in my life, and feeling terrified to take a leap into the unknown depths of motherhood.

Luckily I saw this picture today on one of my regular blog reads, and it reminded me of when Brooks was a puppy. I was so nervous to bring him home and start our lives with a dog at that time. I remember having a million concerns about how our lives would change when he was living inside these walls. As it turns out, he has ended up being one of the best things for us, and has enriched every experience we've had with him.

I know the experience of having a child is going to be even better. It's what I've wanted my whole life. Plus, Brooks is so high maintenance...a baby is going to seem like a piece of cake.

Gratitude.

I'm currently feeling grateful for...

  1. The weather officially being cool during the day and cold at night...finally!

  2. The election being over and my favorite pick being the new president come January.

  3. Starting to see Christmas commercials on TV and decorations in the stores...I love the magic of this time of year.

  4. Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and being able to eat sugar at free will within the next few weeks {yeah!}.

  5. Knowing that very soon I'm going to meet the little human who's been residing in my womb for the last 9 months.

Happy Weekend.

Noble.

Not who's picture you thought would be on my blog today, huh?

Well, I just wanted to give McCain the credit he deserves today. I thought that his concession speech was beyond gracious and his noble character really shined through. Although I've been a staunch Obama supporter, I've never thought of McCain as a bad guy...just not the best candidate for the job. I appreciate that he has fought for this country as a veteran, and that he still fights today for what he believes.

That being said, I am ecstatic that Obama is the new president. I can't wait for foreign countries to respect us again...

Voting Perks.

Starbucks really is a cool company. They are one of the few places you can work part time and still be offered health benefits, they are completely socially responsible and now they are giving away a free cup of coffee to everyone who votes today.

You just have to tell them that you voted and they will give you a free tall cup of coffee. Now, please everyone go out and vote to collect your free goods...
